SUSTAINABILITY

SLOW & CONSCIOUS

At Rene K we believe in slow, conscious fashion, made to last and to love. It’s at the heart of our mission as a brand and as specialists in bespoke Made to Measure clothing, to handcraft only the most beautiful and indispensable of pieces for the big moments in life. Every piece of RK is meticulously designed, crafted to your measurements and handmade with love in our Lancashire based studio and showroom.

We believe in consuming less, investing in quality and revelling in the joy of a perfectly fitting dress made to your exact measurements. We make dresses to fit YOU, not the other way around. With this model we’re able to operate as a zero waste fashion label, generating little to no textile waste with small but carefully curated collections and all year round RK classics.

HOW WE WORK WITH THE PLANET

Every item of clothing is ethically produced, designed and handmade in Lancashire, England. As specialists in the bespoke and Made to Measure market, we make-to-order rather than mass produce, and keep little stock for our Ready to Wear collections. Did you know the fashion industry produces more than 100 billion pieces of clothing a year? You won’t find unnecessary drops and constant newness here..

POSITIVE PROCESSES

We are a zero-waste fashion company, with very little textile waste in our production. 80% of the fabric we use is locally sourced and deadstock, both enabling us to repurpose fabric destined for waste and reduce our carbon emissions from deliveries.

We minimise fabric waste in our cutting & design process, with any waste or offcuts used in-house as fabric samples, or are donated to the WEA charity. We’re proud to produce zero deadstock, selling our samples and unsold stock in sales or via Depop, or donating to local charity shops.

CONSCIOUS CHOICES

We are a 100% female owned and run business made up of a small but dedicated team of professionals from the local community.

98% of our packaging is biodegradable.

We have consciously made the decision not to offer buy now pay later schemes to prevent debt issues and higher emissions from additional returns. We’re super proud of a 7% return rate compared to up to 30 – 40% for fast fashion brands.

CHARITY PARTNERSHIP

WEA: Adult Learning Within Reach

We’re proud to donate our off-cuts to the WEA charity for their sewing and textile courses, allowing us to reduce our fabric waste and give it new purpose. The WEA works to provide adult education to people from all walks of life and abilities, supporting new careers, learning and opportunities. Donating our off-cuts allows WEA to help vulnerable women learn new sewing skills, use those skills to craft their own garments and be self-sufficient selling via marketplaces.
